Britney Promo Tour

With "Circus" (the single/video NOT the album) being a career high, come some definite low points while on her promo tour. They are certainly nowhere near as disastrous as last year's VMAs, but clearly show she is not back to "old Britney" as many would claim.

First up was her stop at the Bambi Awards in Germany. Not a terrible performance but not entirely inspired either. It does features the first use of the flaming ring and giant circus ball, both of which are cool effects. Megan Ryan is clearly the only celeb to pan to in the audience.

Next up was her stop in France at the show Star Academy, similar to Idol. Here, she gives another slightly tweaked performance of Womanizer without fully committing to her dance routines. The truly awkward part comes at the end when the host comes out for what can only be described as an impromptu interview disaster. Watch her "interview" around 3:45 in the video. She clearly has no intention of taking those flowers even with her name clearly being pointed out as a hint by the host..it's like no one has given her flowers after a performance before, which I somehow doubt is the case. Then the host Nikos wants her to give advice to the contestants on the show because "they want her job." She responds completely in shock that they would want her job. Maybe she doesn't realize her job is being a performer? I guess she doesn't know what kind of show she is even on. Clearly not everything is okay...at least her outfit is quite flattering.

Here next stop was on the X Factor (similar to American Idol) in London. Another mediocre performance that at least gave the show high ratings. Also another awkward interview. The host around 3:40 asks how she thinks the contestants did while performing her songs and she responds "amazing. I met so many different people. The place is beautiful and I love being here in London it's awesome." She has that looking of being in class thinking about anything but being there and the professor calls on you for your opinion. Her words of wisdom for the contestants are "good luck and just keep doin' it." Thanks for that Brit! Words to live by.

Interesting review of her performance. Frankly, in light of that horrible MTV performance last year, anything Britney does now is spectacular, albeit non-commital.
