The Saturdays "Forever Is Over" Video Leak!!

Here's the video for the much buzzed Saturdays' track "Forever is Over." It shows a bit of a darker, more adult side to The Saturdays. It was slightly revealed in the "Work" video, but here the music matches the styling. I must say the song is good, but I don't know if it's exactly what I want from the girls. Their bubbly, fun music was really "work"ing for them--pun intended. I'm all for artist evolution, but is this too much, too fast? The beginning of the song is a bit of a let down, but when it picks up with some hot wailing from Vanessa, it becomes a REALLY good track. Will their fans be ready for the change??

Little Boots covers JLS's "Beat Again"

Little Boots in all her immaculate glory has made me seen the light regarding the JLS song "Beat Again." It's actually QUITE A GOOD single, I must concede after hating on it recently. Thank you Little Boots, I owe you one! However, I must say her version is better!

Sugababes "Get Sexy" Official Music Video!!!

Finally, the video we've ALL been waiting for! The Sugababes are back with their hott new track "Get Sexy" and equally scorching new music video. This is for sure one of the top Sugababes videos ever--perhaps the rumours that they'll be promoting in the US will finally come true?? The video just gets better and better--just wait for the chains and the nearly in synch dance moves!!

La Roux Perform "Bulletproof" LIVE on Jimmy Kimmel!

Here's La Roux making their US TV premiere! They're releasing the album in the US which is good news because the album is phenomenal! "Bulletproof" is for sure one of the best songs of the year. It's not quite as magical live, but it's still pretty entrancing! Hopefully enough people in The States succumb to its power!

Booty Luv "Say It" Music Video!!

I thought that "Say It" had been released forever ago, but apparently the single doesn't come out until 31 August in the UK. They'll be up against "Get Sexy" by the Sugababes, so we'll see who take victory that week! The video isn't exactly performed the best, but it does the job. It's truly a brilliant song, so enjoy!

Little Boots "Remedy" Video Premiere!!

It's the video for the song that all the Little Boots fans have been waiting for!!! Little Boots is one of the most exciting things to happen to pop music as of late and "Remedy" has the potential to be a major hit! The video is very Little Boots, while being different enough to not be a cliche (ie full of unicorns in space).

Lily Allen "F*ck You" Music Video!!

This is literally the BEST VIDEO OF THE YEAR (well maybe the last few weeks). I always love Lallen's vids since she (the director) has such an original view of the world. This is a great song with some substance to back it up. It starts off great with the first-person camera angle but gets even better from there--just you wait!!!

Kelly Rowland & David Guetta "When Love Takes Over" Live on Le Grand Journal!

Here's Kelly Rowland & David Guetta performing live "When Love Takes Over" on Le Grand Journal live! It's truly one of the best tracks of the year and hopefully this coverage will help it take off. You can see just how powerful Kelly is as a vocalist here, which you might forget when she's being overshadowed by Beyonce or hosting Project Runway ripoffs on Bravo. Also stick around for after the performance when Kelly looks like a deer in headlights while everyone else speaks French!

Tiffanie Officially Leaving Girlicious!

In case you didn't see Tiffanie is officially leaving one of my fave girl groups Girlicious. My friend always thought she looked like a tranny mess, so maybe I can see why she's out.....those other girls are GORGEOUS!

Pink "Funhouse" Official Video!!

P!nk has finally released one the best tracks from her album "Funhouse." I really hope this single is huge for her because she really deserves it with the high caliber of this album. "Please Don't Leave Me" is finally picking up on the charts, but till now has been pretty underwhelming. I would have imagine this video having a more Circus/Carnival theme, but I guess she didn't want it to be too much like Britney's "Circus" as their tours were both quite similar aesthetically. It's still a clever video and features Tony Kanal one of the record producers--enjoy!

Aqua "Back To The 80s" Music Video Premiere!!!

Aqua is back in a big way!! They're releasing their greatest hits album soon and the new track they have out is superb in the cheesy way you'd expect from them. It's called "Back to the 80s" and the video is below. Perhaps "Back to the 90s" would have been more appropriate and they could have chanted "Remember Barbie Girl?" but this does the trick. My favorite line is "back when M&M was just a snack, back when Michael Jackson's skin was black"---genius. Enjoy this cheesetastic video--especially the sluttly-girl-on-motorbike-wearing-spandex setup!

Jessica Mauboy "Because" Video Premiere!

Here's the vid for Jessica's fourth single from "Been Waiting" called "Because." As this album is perfection in its entirety, the same applies for this song. It's another fab track off the album and will hopefully be yet another hit for her down under. When will she make her move on the US? It's her most artistic video yet and totally works. She actually looks quite pretty (good lighting is key as Blanche in Streetcar Named Desire knows all too well). One way to save money is to show the same shots agai, but backwards!! Enjoy!

Mandy Moore LIVE Performance on Ellen!

Here's Many Moore performing the first single off her new album Amanda Leigh which is in stores now! The track is called "I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week" and is truly stunning! She gives a great performance so I really hope this song picks up airplay!

The Saturdays "Work" Music Video Premiere!!!

It's the video we've all (I've) been waiting months for!!! The Saturdays are finally set to release the absolutely stunning track "Work" as a single and the video is out! They've slightly remixed the track to make it a bit more fresh--and boy does it work! --no pun intended there-- The video is darker and more sultry than the previous bubble gum color schemed videos. It's maybe not the most exciting video and the dancing could certainly be ramped up as we've seen in previous performance of "Up." --once again no pun intended-- The video looks quite expensive--is there a possible American invasin coming my way!?! One can only dream of total Saturdays domination!!!

What Britney Spears REALLY sounds like singing live!

This is for sure one of the funniest videos you will ever watch...especially if you watch it repeatedly like I do! It's Britney Spears sining live with her microphone turned on and isolated. I just keep imaging if she actually did sing live and people in an audience heard this! Now that would be a Circus worth paying for! Check it out here!!!

La Roux's "Bulletproof" Video Premiere!!

Now this is one of my favorite videos in quite some time!! Love retro-80s-video-game inspired vids! It's much improved over their last video for "In For the Kill." Both songs are equally amazing, with this one taking a slightly different tone than La Roux's first two single. It probably had to do with less falsetto on Elly's party. I hope this will be as big of a hit as "In For the Kill." My only complaint would be Elly's makeup isn't the most flattering but her wardrobe and hair pretty much "make up" for that--no pun intended.

Cascada "Evacuate The Dancefloor" Official Video!!

Here's the clip from Cascada's latest single. The song is absolutely FANTASTIC!! It marks a change in direction for them as it's not strictly techno--it's more electro-pop with even some hip hop thrown in. I actually love this and it shows growth for the group. It actually sounds like if Britney and Lady Gaga had a vocal baby. Listen and you'll hear elements of both. The video itself isn't super exciting and pretty typical for this type of song--but it does the trick. It sounds like a big hit to me as long as all the references to illness don't get in the way with this whole Swine Flu epidemic thing...

Paula Abdul "Here For The Music" Performance on American Idol!

Here's Paula Abdul's return to music/choreography with her performance of her single "(I'm Just) Here For The Music." The choreography, dancing and stage effects are all a great performance. After all these years, she's still got it! I thoroughly enjoy the song too, so I hope she has some success with it. I can't say it's quite as good as last year's single "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow" but it's still great and I totally get her message! Her lip syncing was totes on point!!

Adele "Hometown Glory" Video Premiere!

Here's the official video of Adele's song "Hometown Glory." This is yet another stunning song and video from the multiple Grammy award winner. It's a simple video, yet it's amazing how enthralling it can be to watch Adele just sit there and sing--but it is. It's a moving song and the images in the background are very cool and tell a story all their own. I love the juxtaposition of the power plant with the nature scene. Beautiful.

Gimme A Circus Mashup!

Here's a really hot mashup of the Britney tracks "Gimme More" and "Circus" by French DJ Florian Morin. Loves it!!!! A lot of mashups don't work but this one is HAWT!

Lil' Kim ft. T-Pain "Download" Video Premiere!

Lil' Kim just premiered her new video for her comeback single called "Download." I didn't love it at first (because I'm not a huge T-Pain fan) but I did give it a chance because I'm a HUGE Queen Bee fan. It totally grows on you! The lyrics are cheeky and fun and only someone like Lil Kim could include iphone, myspace, and gmail into a song and make it sound relatively normal. The video is cute and features a cameo by her Dancing With the Stars Partner, Derek Hough! I'm excited to see what else she has in store on her new album because I loved some of the tracks from the last one...especially "Lighters Up."

Katy Perry "Waking Up in Vegas" Video Premiere!

Katy Perry has finally revealed the full clip of her hott new video "Waking Up in Vegas!" This will be her fourth single from her debut album and will hopefully do better than single 3 "Thinking of You," which though gorgeous, didn't exactly set the charts on fire. I have high hopes for this song though! It's super fun and really catchy. The vid is exactly what you'd expect from Katy and exactly what you'd expect from the song. I love how kitschy it is--especially the queen of hearts t-shirt dress! Now THAT'S a trend I'd like to see take off!!

Friday, April 24, 2009

Pixie Lott "Mama Do" Video Premiere!!!

The amazing Pixie Lott, who I've mentioned before, has finally released her first music video for her debut single "Mama Do." She has a GREAT voice and even better she writes her own music! The track is super fun, but there are many, many hot tracks to look forward to on her album. The video is very stylistic and cute. Pixie looks beyond gorgeous in the video, which is something I think is missing from many of the new artists of out day. It's a shame--we need more blonde bombshells. The only thing I dislike in the video are her Lady Gaga-esque hot pants/leotard. Other than that it's perfect--I mean who doesn't love a good, fierce, clap game? I know I do! Rockin Robin anyone?? Megan Joy? Anyone?

BoA - "I Did it for Love" Video Premiere!!!

The video for BoA's 2nd single off her English album is finally released! There was a clip/teaser released earlier that had me on the edge of my seat in anticipation of the video and I was NOT disappointed! "I Did It For Love" is honestly one of the best music video in years! Between this and "Womanizer" music videos seem to be experiencing a renaissance! The song is fabulous, but it's even better when coupled with the striking choreography and filming in the MV. Definitely give this one a chance even if just to see some serious fan dancing!!!

Saturday, April 11, 2009

Alesha Dixon "Let's Get Excited" Video Premiere!

Here's the new vid for Alesha Dixon's 3rd single off her latest album! It's a fun song and definitely should have been the latest single. The video is cute and a bit "Waiting for Tonight" JLO era, but fun nonetheless. We'll see if it goes top ten like the last two single did....maybe it will after all "Breathe Slow" defied expectations and went to #3!!

Jessica Mauboy does "Been Waiting" Live!

Here's Jessica Mauboy doing her 3rd single from her album of the same name "Been Waiting" live at Good Friday Appeal in Australia. Skip ahead to around the 3 minute mark for the performance if you don't want to hear her soft spoken "banter." It's a great song and hopefully will do as well at her first two singles that were both top 3 hits!

Paradiso Girls!

I've been meaning to post about the Paradiso Girls for quite some time and am now finally getting around to it. If you haven't heard of them, they're essentially a Euro version of the Pussycat Dolls. In fact, they're formed by the "genius" Robin Antin who also put together the Pussycat Dolls and Girlicious. It features girls from around the world, including Chelsea, the runner-up on Search for the Next Doll here in the US. They've been working with top producers, so I have high hopes for their material. Some of the leaked songs haven't been so stellar--hopefully why they were leaked. At least rumored first single "Patron Tequila" is hot hot hot in a way that would make me want to enter a hot body contest! Check it out below the lyrics are funny, but it's kind of enjoyable and the beat is sick! Love me some kettle drum!

Pussycat Dolls Live at Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards!

The Dolls performed a medley of "Jai Ho" and "When I Grow Up" at the Nick award show Saturday. It's one of their best performances in a while--the updated dance break at the end is sick!

Adele Performing "Make You Feel My Love" on Today!

Here's is the beyond talented Adele being introduced by the beyond crazy Kathy Lee and slightly less crazy Hoda on the Today show. She's performing the Bob Dylan classic (also covered by Garth Brooks) "Make You Feel My Love." It's the only cover on Adele's debut album 19 but it's absolutely beautiful. If you weren't familiar with the song before, you would swear that she wrote it because of the passion she sings it with.

Lily Allen Performing "Not Fair" on Ant and Dec!

Here's Lily singing the infectious "Not Fair" live on Saturday Night Takeaway with Ant and Dec. Great jam and a great performance! It was just a bit weird hearing the missing parts edited for their "inappropriate" nature.

Saturday, March 21, 2009

Lily Allen "Not Fair" Music Video Premiere!

Lily has finally released the video from her second single off It's Not Me, It's You called "Not Fair." The song has a great country feel, fun dance beat, and some very naughty (channeling Bruno from DWTS) but amusing lyrics. The Brits did a great job of capturing that retro country-type performance of say Johnny Cash or Patsy Cline...so funny!

Doll Domination 2.0 Cover!

It's official! The Pussycat Dolls are re-releasing their mess of an album Doll Domination retitled 2.0. They're hoping to boost lackluster sales by including hot new tracks "Jai Ho" and "Top Of The World," the theme from the show The City. There are also a few new songs as well including one called "Painted Windows" which sounds like a hot mess. I'm wondering if they're taking songs off the album as it is already a cumbersome 18 tracks with 5 bonus ones! They're putting on hold release of mediocre single "Bottle Pop"--for now at least. Here's the very zexy new cover! Loves it!

Girls Aloud perform "Untouchable" LIVE!

This post is a bit belated, but here is the first performance of Girls Aloud's 3rd and final single off Out of Control entitled "Untouchable." The performance is the radio edit of the song because the album version is 6:45 in length. It really is their "Stairway to Heaven!"--well not anymore. They're performing on the show Dancing on Ice so you can never tell if the audience is clapping for the girls' "amazing" vocal chops or the ice dancers' corny moves. The use of suspension wires (especially in combination with ice dancing movies) is quite powerful. Enjoy!

Enrique Iglesias and Gabriella Cilmi "Takin Back My Love!"

Enrique Iglesias and Gabriella Cilmi perform Enrique's latest single "Takin Back My Love" live! Gabriella Cilmi is singing Ciara's part here, which has also been re-recorded for European release with Sarah Connor from Germany. I wonder if Ciara or Gabriella will make it onto the UK release? It's a very different song for Gabriella to be singing, but she sounds great on pretty much anything! This song definitely has the potential to be a hit in Europe, but it's unlikely here in the US.

BoA Performs "I Did It For Love" LIVE!

Here's Korean pop-star BoA performs her 2nd English single Live in Hollywood. This girl can dance!!! She really is like the Korean Britney with a few cornrows. I really hope this US crossover goes well. I can't wait for the full album to be out March 17th!!!

The Saturdays "Work" LIVE on Saturday Night Takeaway!

The Saturdays performed their smashing new single "Work" which deserves to be #1 for a zillion weeks in a row on every country's chart. It was the first live performance of the track and it was simply off the chain! Mollie had a rough note at the beginning (putting that mildly) but Vanessa made up for it with her perfect closing note. The girls all looked great, especially all the volume in Mollie's hair, though I can't say that Una's hair looked anything better than disheveled. Better luck with that next time Una--at least you can play guitar!

The Saturdays LIVE at Comic Relief!

Here are The Saturdays performing their charity single "Just Can't Get Enough" at the album chart show! They've been promoting it like crazy, though last week it only debuted at #2 being bested by Flo Rida. Maybe sales will pick up this week? If I were to guess this is the first time the girls have sung this actually live. It has a very different sound than their other performances that were most likely lipsynched aka mimed. I just can't get enough of this song!!! If you're like me, then here's your daily dose.

The Ting Tings LIVE at Comic Relief!

The Ting Tings performed "That's Not My Name" for the Comic Relief charity event in the UK. It remains one of my favorite songs in ages, so I definitely didn't mind hearing it once more time. I was a bit surprised they didn't perform something else from their brilliant album since "That's Not My Name" was already a big hit in the UK and this could have been a big opportunity to gain another. I guess they still have strong album sales and are just giving the fans what they want to hear! I hope this jam will be as big of a hit here in The States!

Pussycat Dolls Jai Ho Video Premiere!!

Finally!!!! It's the video we've ALL been waiting for! The Pussycat Dolls have just premiered their new video for the English version of Jai Ho from the Oscar winning movie Slumdog Millionaire. The Dolls certainly know how to turn out a video with their impeccable dance moves and rockin' bods. I'm amazed they braved the cold Vienna snow in those outfits! I'm glad they incorporated the Indian culture and the Bollywood style of dance into the video, it really adds to it. The song is already blowing up on radio and I think it will be here for quite a while!

Britney Spears "If U Seek Amy" Official Video!

Here's a video that doesn't make much sense for a song that doesn't make much sense...birds of a feather, eh? I mean at least Britney looks good and dances (ie writhes) a bit. The song has somewhat of a storyline, so I figured they might follow that, but no, no story in this just nonsense. I mean, hey, at least it's not the vid for "Gimme More!" However, this one features a much worse pair of shoes.

Jessica Mauboy " Been Waiting" Official Video!!

One of my favorite artists of 08 is still keeping the hits coming in 09 with her 3rd single "Been Waiting!" Every track on her album also titled Been Waiting is exquisite and this is no exception. It's a fun video, with some great flowing outfits and Jessica certainly is looking more and more like a pop star each and every day. I just wish I could have been one of those beach walking extras in the video..o well..maybe if I move to Sydney? I just REALLY hope they release this album here in the US so more people can enjoy it the way I do daily!

Kelly Clarkson "All I Ever Wanted" Album Review!!!!!!

Who is Kelly Clarkson? That sounds like an easy enough question to answer. "She's the multi-platinum selling winner of the first season of American Idol" you might answer. Who is Kelly Clarkson as an artist? That's a bit more difficult of a question to answer. Is she the R&B crooner we heard off her initial American Idol album? Is she pop perfection a la Miss Independent? Is she a pop-rocker in the style of the generation-defining "Since U Been Gone?" Or is she something darker in the style of much ridiculed album My December? Well if you're a fan of any of these reinventions of Kelly, then there's something for you on her latest album All I Ever Wanted.

All I Ever Wanted is Kelly's "comeback" album after her last piece of rebellion against Clive Davis entitled My December. Most people either didn't know this album existed or have decided to block it out of their memories due to the pain it caused their eardrums. It seems Kelly has come to her senses and decided to work with nearly all of today's top songwriters and producers on this latest project including: Max Martin and Dr. Luke, Kara DioGuardi, Katy Perry, Ryan Tedder, and Howard Benson. The result is a very diverse album with loads of potential hits. What's lacking is a sense of unity among the tracks on the album. With so many styles to choose from there really is something for everyone, but on the flip-side chances are that at least one or two tracks will leave the listener cold. It's also fair to guess that Kelly as an artist is not all of these styles and leads the listener to feel that some of the tracks are inauthentic--but which? Is pop Kelly the fake or is angry Kelly really just an act?

The biggest strength on the album is really its production quality. Most of the tracks are incredibly produced and mixed (as they should be from the industry's top professionals.) There are so many layers and complexities to each track that you'll discover something new each time. Tracks like powerful, synth-heavy "If I Can't Have You" and Kelly's favorite track "All I Ever Wanted" will give you a lot each and every listen. Of course the first two singles, chart-topper "My Life Would Suck Without You" and anthemic "I Do Not Hook Up", are off the charts in terms of pop records. Other than these, perhaps the best track on the album is "Long Shot." The verses here are incredibly interesting both melodically, as well as lyrically. The chorus is a bit predictable but really ties the complex verses together into a stunning, tight little pop package. Perhaps best from the mid-tempo tracks is "Already Gone" which is quite different for Kelly and sounds more like a song Beyonce would have been all over. This similarity also might be because the track starts off almost identically to the Beyonce single "Halo." The best ballad (of the two true ones) is "If No One Will Listen" which has some very moving parts (definitely this record's "Because of You" ) and rightfully so ends the album. "Cry" which is certainly placed in typical 3rd single position being track 3 is just not as moving or sincere as the closing ballad. Kelly's been quoted as saying that this album really showcases her voice and what she sounds like live. I would completely agree that these tracks really capture her voice as it sounds in a live performance and that that's certainly a good thing. You can't deny her chops--she's one hell of a singer.

While Kelly's Breakaway album shone brightly in the lyrics department, this current one is more about production. There are definitely some interesting lyrical moments, but for the most part it's not as deep or as though-provoking. I'll never forget the first time I heard Kelly sing "what do you when you look in the mirror and staring at you is why he's not here" on a track from Breakaway. There are fewer of these make-you-think moments here. Here we get "Whyyawannabringmedown" which at first is catchy, but then reminds you of the My December era and quickly makes you want to turn it off. The end of the album takes a fun turn and gets a bit retro in the tracks "Ready" and and "I Want You" which has a Duffy-esque quality about it. In "Ready" Ms. Clarkson belts "I sit here so patiently drenched in what you want me to be" and this seems to sum up this album. All I Ever Wanted is what the fans want from her, but is it what she wants from herself?

I-866-IDOLS-13 yields some very intersting results!

With the addition of a 13th contestant to the American Idol group this year, obviously someone should check that they have a 13th phone line available to take votes for them. That number should be 1-866-IDOLS-13, however, that number is registered as a sex phone line. Click HERE to hear Ryan Seacrest discuss the problem with an Idol producer as well as the president over at Fox. You'll also get to hear about Ryan's true fantasy of "hot horny girls"--as if! This is all payback for not making Tatiana Del Toro (the most amusing thing to happen to Idol in years) not the 13th contestant!!

Sugababes NOT Splitting Up!!!

There was an article posted on News of the World that claimed after low album sales from Catfights and Spotlights the Sugababes were going to split up. I nearly had a heartache (and not from lack of exercise either) because this would be an absolute travesty for my personal universe as well as the pop world. Luckily, the girls have come forward and said "it's complete rubbish that the Sugababes are splitting up." They are actually headed to America (hopefully NYC so I can run into them, but I fear they'll be in Atlanta with Dallas Austin again) and are also going to be mentors on the Holland version of The X Factor. Good luck girls--we want a new album out this year!!

Wes Carr "Feels Like Woah" Video Premiere!!

Australian Idol winner, Wes Carr, is back with this follow-up single to "You" entitled "Feels like Woah." I think he's starting to get more into the artist he truly is aka he sucks.

The Hollywood Reporter interviews BoA

Here's a quick interview with Korean pop sensation BoA about her crossover here to the US. Enjoy her broken English! Love her music!!

"I Do Not Hook Up" Single Official Cover!

Here's the cover to my anthem and Kelly Clarkson's second single off her latest album. "I Do Not Hook Up" is by far the catchiest track on the album so I'm sure it will be a mega-huge! It's a cute pic of Kelly, granted her hair obscures most of her face. It's actually a photo from inside the booklet for All I Ever Wanted, but in these economic times, that's totally acceptable. Nothing will ever be more reused that Britney's Blackout cover pic--ever--so we're okay here.

Electrik Red release "So Good" Video!!

Electrik Red, the new girl group signed to Def Jam that I wrote about recently, has just released a new video for a new track called "So Good." It's quite a good slow to midtempo R&B jam. I would like to listen to this while on a sailboat relaxing. It's quite a good video for being low-budget.
Things you will see in the video:

1. Rainbow Brite mating with an arachnid
2. Paint splattered dresses
3. pilates and/or handcuff escape
4. a non-blind version of "blind-folded musical chairs" courtesy of the Ellen show

=hawtnesss

Calvin Harris "I'm Not Alone" Official Video!

Scottish music artist Calvin Harris (also one of the most feverish twitters out there) has just released the video for his comeback single "I'm Not Alone." According to his twitter "all my videos are a bit odd. this one pisses all over the other ones though by far." It's definitely strange, but that tends to be the standard for techno videos. Other conventions for the genre would be the semi-hott girls wearing somewhat leotardesque costumes doing slightly robotic dancing and a general sense of insanity. It's a hott dance track once it gets going, so give it view!

"The Fear" Live on So You Think You Can Dance Australia!

Here's Lily Allen performing "The Fear" which is still as stunning as the first time I heard it back in 08. She performed it on her promo tour after hitting The UK, The US and Japan ;she finally went down under to Australia. The performance is much more theatrical than the other performances we've seen so far. It follows the concept of the music video closely with the balloons, man -servants and dancing. The audience releasing balloons is the end of the performance is a very cool effect indeed! Her album It's Not Me, It's You premiered at #1 on the Australian ARIA charts and currently sits at #2 in its second week.

Gaga does "Beautiful, Dirty, Rich" Live!

Here's Lady Gaga or as I like to call her, Laga, performing one of my fave tracks from her album The Fame, LIVE for MTV UK. I actually like parts of the live performance more than the recording exclusing her growl of "but we've got no money" and her alaramed exclamation of "dirty rich!" Sorry for the poor quality--blame MTV.

It Was a Good Night for Late Late Night TV!

Last night on Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon (why are all the late late hosts named Jimmy???) were a pair of amazing musical guests. Jimmy Fallon, who judging by this introduction really needs to work on his hosting skills, had on the goddess that is Santogold. She performed "Shove It," one of the finest tracks from her breakout album Santogold.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Kimmel had Robyn perform the acoustic version of her track "Be Mine" and she sounded just as good as when I saw her live last year in New York. "Be Mine" is one of those rare songs that sounds great slowed down and acoustic as well as upbeat and dancey like the original track.

What we can learn from all this....at least one of these shows needs to have MIA on to perform the infectious track "Jimmy."

Pixie Lott is Hott!!

Pixie Lott is yet another amazing artist hailing from my favourite country, The UK. She's signed a record deal with Mercury and will be releasing her first album this summer. The first single is going to be "Mama Do" apparently. Check out some of her tunes on mypspace at:
www.myspace.com/pixiesongs
Make sure to listen to "Turn It Up" and "Here We Go Again" which are my personal faves from the tracks she has available. I'm really grooving to her sound, but also think she's quite pretty and blonde which is just the icing on the cake! I think we will see a lot from this chica! Enjoy!!

"Rain on Your Parade" live on Wetten, dass...?

The one and only Duffy performing "Rain on Your Parade" from the re-release of Rockferry. This is a GREAT performance. I'm really shocked she didn't perform this at the BRITs since it never was the mega hit it deserved to be--despite selling about a billion albums in the UK. Hopefully, she will extend her reign as queen on the European continent!

Electrik Red!!

I've been meaning to write about Electrik Red for a while now and today they released a new video so it seems like the perfect time. They're a new 4 piece girl group signed to Def Jam Recordings and have some really great tracks so far. They haven't taken off the way most Def Jam artists have, but hopefully they will in time! Their 2nd and newest video is for "Friend Lover" which is a fun mix between pop and hip hop. The video is very chocolate Stepford wives, so ch-check it out! I don't know about their performance outfits though...as Brenda Dickson would say "it's just a plain pants suit!"

Their first track is much more urban but equally as catchy. The toilet cubicle dancing reminds me a lot of the Sugababes video for "Easy" off their greatest hits. Enjoy "Drank in my Cup!!!" View it HERE.

Making the Video of "Jai Ho" by the Pussycat Dolls!

The Pussycat Dolls have caught Slumdog Millionaire fever just like the rest of the world! They've recorded an English version of the track "Jai Ho" from the Slumdog soundtrack and it is faboo! It uses the same track as the original, but features new English lyrics which equals hawtness. Here's the behind the scenes video while shooting the music vid in a train station in Vienna. Even if you don't like the Dolls, it's definitely worth it to watch just to see how awful and tired Robin Antin looks!

"How Do You Sleep" Video Remix!

I already posted the older video from Jesse McCartney for his 3rd single "How Do You Sleep" but now that it's being re-released as a remix with Ludacris, there's a new video! The last was low budget and featured tour footage--this one is much better quality. I still love the song and hopefully with the new remix it was will fare better than single #2 "It's Over" since that was over before it even started. Despite being a well shot and clever video, it actually terrifies me! I'm terribly afraid of driving and and car crashes and the driving (or lack thereof) sequences that make up this video give me the chills!

"Fake" by Alex Roots Video!!!

This video by Alex video is totally genius! It's def low budget, but completely conveys the message of the song. The overdone girls in this video deserve an Oscar...or at least a People's Choice Award. Enjoy this track, but I have a feeling we'll be seeing quite a bit from Alex in the future!

Lady Sovereign "So Human" Video Premiere!

Lady Sov has premiered the new clip for her 2nd promo single for her new album! She looks really great;I'm digging her look sans cornrows. Her music has shown real growth from her last release so I have high hopes for the full album especially since she's doing the entire thing independently.

Strange Glad Bags Ad!

This comes courtesy of Ally, but now I can't stop watching it. The ad starts off pretty regularly, however, it takes a sharp turn as soon as the strange singing begins. If you don't think this is funny the first time..keep watching...you will!

BRIT Awards Performances!

Here are a few of my favourite performances from the big night! There were some truly amazing performances that totally outdid the Grammy's in my opinion. I still can't believe the Grammy's didn't have Duffy perform during the live show--at least the Brits got that right!!

Co-hosts Kylie Minogue, James Corden and Matthew Horne opening the evening in quite a comical ode to Kylie.

Girls Aloud performed "The Promise" and shockingly it was their first performance ever at the BRITs! The girls did a great job and it was a fun performance. I was waiting for the big reveal of their outfits for the entire time! I just really wish the girls could actually dance(other than Cheryl).

I was super excited to hear that two of my fave artists were performing together! The Ting Tings and Estelle brought down the house by the end of their number! At first it started off a bit disastrous when they tried to mash up "Shut Up and Let Me Go" along with "American Boy" but the songs just do not go well together. Things finished off at a high point with "That's Not My Name," the song that put The Ting Tings on the map.

Duffy performed a gorgeous rendition of "Warwick Avenue." She can do no wrong in my eyes. She is just perfection! Though I'm a bit surprised she didn't perform her newer single "Rain on Your Parade."

The Pet Shop Boys were honored and performed a long medley of their biggest hits. Lady Gaga and Brandon Flowers from The Killers joined them on stage. Decent performence, but a bit long even for a medley. I also can't say that Gaga's and Flower's vocals really mesh well together.

BRIT Award Winners 2009!!!

Here are the big winners at this year's BRIT awards in bold! Duffy was the BIG winner of the night which left Adele along with the Ting Tings empty handed. Duffy was absolutely deserving having the biggest album of the year in the UK and also being hailed by the critics. In a somewhat shocker Girls Aloud walked away with the award for "British Single," which makes me incredibly happy!!!! Check out of the rest of the best below! So sad I couldn't be in Earl's Court tonight.

A Woman Misses her Flight!!!

This totally brings the LOLz. This lady missed her flight from Hong Kong to San Fran and TOTALLY freaks out. I've missed many a flight myself and felt like doing this, but somehow held it in. Enjoy!!!

Lady GaGa : Paparazzi (Live @ Album Chart Show)

Here's Lady Gaga performing one of the finest tracks of her album The Fame! Enjoy "Paparazzi;" it's totally fun! It features excellent camera work, excellent choreography, excellent lighting, but not so excellent belly overhang.

Alesha Dixon "Breathe Slow" LIVE on Alan Titchmarsh!

Here's Alesha performing her surprise hit single "Breathe Slow." I've always liked this song, but surprisingly it's taken off and gone to #3 this week on the UK charts. I don't know if it will go any higher since it has to contend with "The Fear" by Lily Allen currently at #1 and "Just Dance" by Lady Gaga at #2. It's a fine performance and Alesha looks stunning as usual. However, though that is a nice skirt it does nothing for her or for her figured--just saying.

Lady Gaga "Love Game" Video Premiere!

Here's the sexy new video for Lady Gaga next Canadian single after "Poker Face" and rumored next US single! It features some GREAT lighting (even Christian Bale would be pleased) some large sunglasses and a disco stick, of course, all resulting in Lady Gaga looking almost presentable. However, it features great use of subway turnstiles and subway poles. There's also some police brutality and lesbian action to boot, holla!

Lil Mama "Truly In Love" Video Premiere!

Here's the video for Lil Mama's apparent first single "Truly In Love" just in time for Valentine's day---however with all my exciting Valentine's plans ie watching the DVR I'm just posting it now. It features Fanny Pack one of the dance crews from MTV's ABDC. Not the great song (I prefer her other leaked single "I'm a Diva") but still not too bad! However, she does not look so great with her hair up, I must admit!

Jennifer Hudson "If This Isn't Love" Video Premiere!

Here's the video premiere for J-Hud follow-up single to "Spotlight" entitled "If This Isn't Love"--which is not to be confused with "If This is Love" by The Saturdays--though both are equally amazing. Jennifer looks gorgeous and I'm so happy she took home a Grammy on Sunday! She definitely deserves it with tracks like this on her album!

Just Can't Get Enough of The Saturdays!!

The Saturdays have been tapped to sing this year's Comic Relief Single in the UK. For those of you that don't know, (almost) ever year there's a benefit called Comic Relief that features a song released with all the profits going entirely to charity. Typically it's a cover song that tends to go to #1 when done right. This will most likely be The Saturdays first #1 song when it's released digitally on March first and their 4th top ten single in the UK! "Work" will be released following this and if all is right in the world will also go to #1. The official cover art is above and the amazingly cheeky video is below. The video is too perfect for words using the girls as 40s style pin-ups!

Kaz James ft. May Gray "Can't Hold Back" Video Premiere!

Here's the video for "Can't Hold Back" by Kaz James and it features Macy Gray. It's quite an eclectic song mixing different genres and two very different vocal styles. Even though Macy hasn't really made the most of all her potential, I still tend to enjoy the music she puts out. The bass at the beginning of the track will have you hooked! I also enjoy video that look like they were filmed as part of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Enjoy!

Etta James vs. Beyonce!

After the Faye Dunaway v. Hilary Duff debacle, it seems like there's a new celebrity feud! At a recent concert Etta James told the crowd that she was upset with Beyonce performing her classic song "At Last" at Obama's inauguration. She says that Obama has big ears and that she wants to beat Beyonce up. Click HERE for the full article at TMZ.

Lily Allen on GMTV!

Here's Lily doing a couple of interviews and a live performance of her UK #1 single "The Fear!" I'm excited she'll be over here in The States for a bit...maybe I'll run into her in NYC! Tickets go on sale for her US dates this weekend, but she doesn't have a NY date, so maybe I'll trek up to Boston to see her! Click HERE for dates.

"The Fear"

The Bird and The Bee Live on Jimmy Kimmel!

Here's the Bird and the Bee performing the hawt track "Love Letter to Japan" live on Jimmy Kimmel! Fun performance for a fun song except around the 3 minute mark where it gets a little crazy! The girls are dressed very Saturdays-esque plus Pilgrim collars!

Sugababes Interview!

Here's a little interview that Sugababes did while on press tour in Germany. The girls seems to be having fun and I especially like the X Box photo of them!

Lady Gaga "Eh Eh" Video Premiere!

Here's the video premiere for Lady Gaga's third Australian single "Eh Eh." The clip is the brightest we've seen from here so far and features a warm, summery, retro feel to it. It's probably perfect for Summer down under, but makes me jealous sitting here in the snow in NY. The huge dogs from the "Pokerface" video also make the a cameo!

The song currently sits at #25 on the Australian ARIA charts, but is certainly on it's way up after her previous two #1s there. The track won't be released in North America anytime soon, with "Pokerface" being the next release followed by rumored "Love Game." Sometime it takes American a while to grasp on to good music! Maybe the clip will be released in the USA by the time we have summer weather? It's hard to even imagine sunshine now....

Humorous Hamster!

Here's today's daily dose of humor courtesy of Andrew!

Nothing this random has popped up since the infamous Spaghetti Cat!

La Roux "In For The Kill" Video Premiere!

La Roux has posted the video for their next single "In For The Kill" which is such a fantastic track. The video on the other hand is pretty low budget and not in a kitschy way. Check out the video HERE. I just can't get enough of La Roux!!

Someone decided it would be a good idea to remake this gem of a video!

Alesha Dixon "Let's Get Excited" Live Performance!

Here's Alesha performing "Let's Get Excited" live on The FeelGood Factor! The track is off her hott album The Alesha Show. Does this mean this will be her next single after "Breathe Slow," which is slowing making it's way up the charts in the UK? I guess that probably depends on how well "Breathe Slow" ends up doing.

Ciara ft Young Jeezy "Never Ever" Video!

Here's the video for Ciara's next single "Never Ever" which features Young Jeezy. I really enjoy both of them, but this track sounds like a dud at least to me. Some of the tracks I've heard off Ciara's album sound much better than this, so I'm not sure the exact theory behind releasing this ode to being boring and then adding time onto the video with Ciara putting on shoes. If you're going to watch this video, then you probably want it to be over as quickly as possible.

The Pussycat Dolls "Bottle Pop" Video Premiere!

Here's a low quality version of the upcoming release from The Pussycat Dolls entitled "Bottle Pop." The clip is good, but not fantastico so I hope it's enough to help in promotion of this single. The song is one of the more "radio-friendly" tracks from what has proved to be the disastrous Doll Domination. "I Hate This Part" is finally picking up speed here in the US, so maybe this will do well on the heels of it. The Dolls tend to do better with up tempo tracks on radio anyway. The group will also be featured on the upcoming Shopaholic soundtrack with a song originally recorded (but not released) by Rihanna called "Bad Girl." It's fun but not as fun as their song recorded for The City theme.

"That's Not My Name" US Video Premiere!

The Ting Tings have just released another brilliant video for their even more brilliant track "That's Not My Name" for the US audience. The track is one of the ones that launched their careers in the UK and was a smash hit across the pond. I hope American likes it equally! I mean the video does feature sign flippers..who can resist those right!??!! right?!!

Michelle Branch Cover Art!

Here is the Official Cover art for Michelle Branch's new album out soon! She's looking VERY Shannen Doherty isn't she?

Kelly Clarkson "My Life Would Suck Without You" Video Premiere!!

The video is finally here for the song already firing up the charts! Check it out below before it's taken off youtube! It remind me of my own life in ways...with throwing things out the window and having near car wrecks! Kelly is looking slimmer than she has in a while and overall it's a fun, but not Earth shattering, video! Enjoy! Holla, Kelly's back!

I love when people murder songs...!!!!!

I've been in a funny mood thanks, in part, to this youtube gem I've uncovered. Please watch this with your speakers turned all the way up and MAKE SURE you get to the end and climax of the song! Make sure to check out her entire catalog of show tunes and pop classics!!!

Bill O'Reilly vs Jessica Alba!

Jalba certainly brings the LOLz in this video! Check her out being all politically charged and media sensitive.....

Michelle Branch "This Way" Live Performance!

A lot of people have been wanting to hear "This Way" in its entirety, but the video is only a sneak peek so far. Well here's a live performance so that you can hear the rest of the track! While this video is pretty low-quality, you can still hear her amazing vocals and how great the track really is. Holla, Michelle's back!

Michelle Branch "This Way" Video Sneak Preview!

Michelle Branch is BACK! She's set to release her third album entitled Everything Comes and Goes with lead single "This Way" up first. It's been years since her last release and yes she had a baby at some point, but her fans have been craving some new music from her. Hopefully, this will be enough to carry her back into the limelight.

The Killers "Spaceman" Video Premiere!!

I love love love love this track. Definitely the right 2nd single choice off Day & Age. I just wish "Human" had more of a chart impact as I love love love love love that song--big difference. Here's the video below. It's exactly the type of indie-looking clip people want to see, so good job expensive video director! Enjoy!

BRIT Award Nominations Revealed!!

The day we've all been waiting for has finally arrived!! The BRIT Award nominations have been revealed!! There aren't too many surprises here really, but there is certainly a lot of stiff competition. British Album is really a tough category...though I'm pulling for Duffy or the Ting Tings..but Coldplay and Radiohead certainly have a shot. I would love for Girls Aloud to win British Group, but I hear that's unlikely as basically any of the others are Brit favorites. I think the toughest competition comes in the British Female and International Female categories. I really couldn't predict who will win. The Adele/Duffy choice proves quite difficult in the end with both of them so deserving of the award. I wouldn't think MIA would get the statue (she has a better chance at the Grammys actually) as she hasn't had as much recognition in the UK despite how phenomenal both her albums have been. International female should in no way go to Beyonce for her latest effort, but the other 4 all have a good shot. It comes down to whether sales (Katy Perry/Pink) or freshness and indie cred (Gabriella Cilmi/Santogold) win out in the end. Kanye should absolutely win International Male, but British single will certainly be a surprise that only time can reveal!

The Saturdays on Eurovision: Your Country Needs You!!

The UK (after disasters year after year in Eurovision) has decided to do a talent show in the vein of Idol or the X-Factor to make sure the country has its say about who ends up going to Eurovision. This has disaster written all over it...especially with the group of Karaoke amateurs dug up by the producers. Don't worry there will be more on this later and many laughs to go along with the info. The program's only redeeming factor (other than being hosted by the very funny Graham Norton) is that it featured a performance by The Saturdays! They performed "Up" for some reason instead of their current release issues...but I'm not complaining since it is in my top 10 favorite songs of all time list! The performance was pretty much SPECTACULAR! It actually featured dancers and the girls dancing a bit more than is customary for other UK girl bands. I'd say with this performance they are pretty much ready to being cracking America. Enjoy the performance and the mini interview with Una and Frankie below!
